What are people saying about Hendrick’s Lutherie?
“Where to begin...my 1976 Martin D41 Sunburst was in sad condition. It needed a neck reset, bridge work, refretting, and various other repairs. I picked Hendricks Lutherie from the internet, chosen for it's proximity to me and some good reviews. I was very impressed upon meeting Ian. He is very knowledgeable, and his workshop is well appointed and organized. He kept me abreast of how the work was going. He did a masterful job, and I can honestly say the guitar looks and sounds better than it did when I bought it in 1990.”
-Becky M., Lempster, NH
"Ian was a very responsive and explained the process thoroughly. He was very reasonable in price and did a tremendous job in fixing a complete neck break of a Taylor 914 series acoustic guitar. Also he helped redrill the strap peg for an electric. Well worth the drive from southern NH. I ran an extensive search in NH on Luthiers Ian came certified in Martin and Taylor. He is our go to professional Luthier. I wouldn’t go anywhere else! Thanks Ian!”
-Peter A., Bedford, NH
“Ian's great! Very knowledgeable, personable, and easy to work with. I recently took my mandolin in for a partial refret and setup and couldn't be happier with the end result!”
-Garrett C., Swanzey, NH
“Ian is an excellent luthier! I was greatly impressed with his knowledge of guitars. He performed some needed repairs and adjustments on my Strat and Martin guitars. The work has resulted in greater playability on both.
Thanks Ian! I will certainly spread the word of your services!!”
-Bill C., Springfield, NH
Ian was able to get my new Breedlove guitar adjusted to my liking. He was also able to fix an issue with the nut that was causing the high E string to be too close to the edge of the neck. His work is excellent! I found him to be very communicative and helpful and would greatly recommend him for any guitar work. Another thing I will say is that he is always looking for ways to help you get the job done within your budget. He does this through very intentional and thorough communication with the customer. He is also extremely experienced with many years of working with stringed instruments. I highly recommend him. Thanks Ian!”
-Jay T., Lebanon, NH
"I brought Ian bits and pieces of a guitar I was working on and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. This guy knows his stuff, is more than willing to talk you through his process and answer any questions, and does whatever he can to make sure you’re happy with the final product. This was my first time working with Ian and most certainly will not be the last."
- Derek H., Keene, NH
"I brought my Gibson C-1 Classical guitar to Ian at Hendricks Lutherie after it had a bad fall off a shelf.
It looked damaged almost beyond repair. It had several cracks in the lower bout up to and through the bridge…needless to say, it looked bad…and I’ve had this guitar for over 50 years and really couldn’t imagine not having anymore or worse having it be a wall hanging! Ian took such good care to repair each part, removing the bridge, repairing each of the several cracks, then putting it all back together. He returned it to me in unbelievably terrific shape, it plays and sounds great, stays in tune! I would not hesitate to bring any of my guitars to him for service or repairs! Very conscientious and great attention to the details! Thanks Ian, I’m extremely happy with the results!"
- Jimmy S., Newbury, NH
“Ian is among the top luthiers in the NH state. He is a detailed oriented person. I find him very knowledgeable and time responsive towards my project. I would recommend him for any one seeking guitar related repair and other services. Treat your guitar well and so go to him!”
-Vardhan B., Bedford, NH
"I really wanted to find a luthier to work on my guitars that wasn't tied to a retail outlet, and was more than surprised to find Ian in our little corner of Southwestern NH! Whether you guitar is worth $500 or $5000, Ian will make you feel like your instrument is the most important one on the planet and takes the time to talk through any of your concerns & questions. He is thorough in his explanation of the work needed (both before and after the job) and I fully trust his assessments, never feeling like he's trying to make an extra buck. Someday I'm going to have a guitar emergency, and I'll be grateful to know Ian will be there to help!"
- Matt B., Stoddard, NH
"Highly recommend! I brought Ian my Alvarez acoustic guitar which I have had since I was a kid. I had the nut and saddle replaced with bone. I also upgraded the tuning machines. Ian was very responsive to all emails and was very professional. When dropping off my guitar, he went into full details about what he was going to do, and what it might or might not do to the tone of the guitar. When he was finished the guitar turned out perfect. The quality of his work is outstanding. The guitar's action and tone are now better than when I first dropped it off."
- Collin P., Keene, NH
"I couldn't refer a better Luthier. Ian is very professional and great at what he does. I brought Ian two guitars for two different setups and both are far better sounding than when I brought them to him. Ian is honest and went above and beyond the work I was expecting and communicated about the setups as well.
When I went to pickup the first guitar, the low tuning I was aiming for was a bit troublesome for the bridge it has. Ian let me know in advance and reworked the setup when I got there in person to get it it to my liking.
A+ work for a very reasonable price!"
- Corey J., Cornish, NH
“Ian is a fantastic luthier. He took an electric guitar which I had to stick an allen wrench under strings beside the nut of to be playable, and made it feel absolutely perfect. His attention to detail was evident as he walked me through what he had done to service it from top to bottom upon pickup of the instrument. Can't wait to bring my acoustics to him!”
-Pete S., Acworth, NH
“Great and attentive service. Got my guitar set up here and really appreciated the attention to detail, the quality work, and the time Ian took with me.”
-Curt E., Putney, VT
“I took my squareneck dobro to Ian with a buzz in the spider. He adjusted things to fix the buzz and installed new strings. It plays very well now. Ian did a fine job at a reasonable price.”
-Paul C., Bradford, NH
“Love this shop. Won't let anyone else work on our instruments. He recently re-fretted my Taylor guitar and performed a neck reset. Great attention to detail, and he doesn't stop working until it's really fixed. There's no quick fix or short cuts. Just keeps at it until everything's perfect. Highly recommend doesn't even cover it. ❤️❤️🤓”
